Today has been a massive overload of gaming and movie news. We get a new console, a new Wolverine movie, and a sequel to probably last gen’s best game.
First off, we see Logan, or what I’ll probably accidentally call Old Man Logan. This is supposed to be Hugh Jackman’s last Wolverine movie. The solo Wolverine movies have been pretty sketchy, but his one looks awesome. You really can’t go wrong with what appears to be a road trip movie with Professor X and Wolverine set in the West.
Next is Red Dead Redemption 2, which I think pairs nicely with Old Man Logan. In my opinion Red Dead Redemption was probably in the top 5 best games to release on last gen systems (Xbox 360/Playstation 3). Although this was more of a teaser and didn’t show gameplay, the game looks absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see more from Rockstar later on.
Then last but not least is the Nintendo Switch, formerly known as Nintendo NX. The name for the new Nintendo console is slightly lame, but appears to be ridiculously awesome. From the video, the console appears to be able to keep up with current generation graphics. Not only that, but the console can “Switch” between the TV and a portable system seamlessly. Mid-game even. It seems like the past several Nintendo consoles have been gimmicky. We got mini discs with the GameCube, motion gaming with the Wii, then a tablet controller with the Wii U.
I think being able to switch between home and portable gaming on the fly is brilliant. I think that it works for anyone with a busy lifestyle to be able to enjoy games. I think the Nintendo Switch will give Nintendo the boost in needs to become competitive with Sony and Microsoft. If all that wasn’t enough, Skyrim HD is coming to the console, and for the first time, the game can be played anywhere. I really love the fact that I can chase my kid around the house and still be able to play a game. We can expect tons of games on the Nintendo Switch, just take a look at the partners.
I’m also excited about how social the console can be, in that I can just start up a game with anyone out and about who also has the console. Just imagine how much more awesome gaming conventions can be with the portable power of the Nintendo Switch.
What a freaking exciting day! Nintendo Switch comes out in March 2017. Take my money please!
